Growing Pumpkins and Other Vine Crops in Wisconsin: A Guide for Fresh-market Growers was produced by the University of Wisconsin Extension and written by A.C. Newenhouse, current Senior Scientist in the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences, and Karen Delahaut, who was a horticulture outreach specialist for the Integrated Pest Management program. This publication looks at cucumbers, melons, pumpkins, and squash, all members of the Cucurbit family. Specifically this publication goes over plant description, site and cultivar selection, planting, soil, nutrient and pest management, irrigation, and postharvest management for the above crops. A planting guide, cultivar selection table, calculating degree-days and additional resources are also provided.
