Garden Facts: Cucumber Beetles

Delahaut, K.A. 2002. Garden Facts: Cucumber Beetles. University of Wisconsin-Extension. Accessed at: <>

Cucumber Beetles was produced by the University of Wisconsin Extension and written by Karen Delahaut. Cucumber beetles affect vine crops in Wisconsin. There are two types: striped and spotted with the striped variety being a more serious pest. This pest transmits the bacterial wilt organism, making cucumber and melon vine crops most at risk because they are susceptible. This publication goes over the appearance of cucumber beetles, crop symptoms and their effects, life cycle, scouting suggestions, and chemical and non-chemical control options.
