Biointensive Integrated Pest Management

Dufour, Rex. 2001. Biointensive Integrated Pest Management. ATTRA. Accessed at: <>

This publication provides the rationale for biointensive Integrated Pest Management (IPM), outlines the concepts and tools of biointensive IPM, and suggests steps and provides informational resources for implementing IPM. The publication is mainly targeted at individuals interested in agriculture at all levels, not just production. IPM takes an ecological viewpoint on pest suppression with the use of natural controls. The goal is to begin to move away from synthetic pesticides, and only use them as a last resort, in the least toxic way.
